London. September 3. At to-day's wool sales, 12,300 bales were offered, to a flat market.
Prince Bismarck has notified to the British' Gevernment his readiness to submit the entire question of the occupation tion of the Caroline Islands to arbitration.
The agitation which is going on in Spain, in regard to the infringement by Germany of Spanish claims to the islands in question is provoking the anger of the German Press, which has lately displayed considerable acerbity towards Spain.
It is announced that it is the intentioa of the Treasury to institute prosecutions against Mr Stead, of the Pall Mall Gazette, Mr BramweU Booth, and other persons for the abduction of a girl named Lily Armstrong, in connection with the recent Jefferiei' scandel.
The Freedom of tbe city of Dublin has been conferred upon Dr J. E. O'Doherty, a member of the Queensland Legislative Council, in recognition of the support given by him to the Irish cause in the oolonies.
In connection witk the Caroline Islands difficulty, it is rumoured that the German squadron at present stationed al Zanzibar has been ordered to proceed to those islands. Acute excitement is being manifested in Spain ever the affair.

Cholera is reported as having broken oat at Parma, and the diseaee is also stated to have made its appearance in other parts ef Italy.
