The Political Situation

Chronicle's Special Correspondent

Wellington. August 26,

From the crowded state of the benohts this afternoon it was evident something «enaaltonal was coming -off, and when it become .known that the Opposition had held a caucus in the morning the galleries were well filled. The occupants were not disappointed, as Major Atkinhob gave notice that he would to-morrow more a series ef resolutions, traversing the t>olicy of the Government. There is no doubt from what I hear that the fight will be a tough one, and it is difficult to say who will win. Kverybody differs as to the probable result, but the majority seem to think the Ministry will win by fire or six votes. ,
