Michael Foley was charged with using obscene language on Kimbolton road on Tuesday night. He pleaded guilty, Sentenced to 48 hours imprisonment with hard labor. Mathias McManus was charged with getting into a railway carriage when the train, was in motion on August 19th. Defendant did not appear. Mr Roche, station master, proved the offence. Fined 10s and costs 7s. CIVIL CASES. D. R. Lowers v G. Knowles. — Judgment summons for £2 9s. Money to be paid in a month or in default three days in Wanganui goal. G-. Crichton v G. Knowles. — Claim £8 6b 6d. No appearance of plaintiff. Case struck out.

Kirton and Curtis yDorreen. — Claim £2 10s. To be paid . in 10, days or in default three days imprisonment. W. 8. Staite v M. Keen. — Claim £4 6s 6d. Mr Staite proved the debt. M. Keen deposed that he instructed plaintiff to prepare a transfer; witnesses son was present; mentioned that plaintiff owed -nim money, which he would sue for if not paid ; Staite asked defendant for a job and it was arranged that lie should draw up a deed of transfer of a. section of land from defendant's son to defendant; it was understood that one account was to pay the other. F. Keen gave evidence in support. The Bench said* the evidence was conflicting, but as the witnesses for the defence were numerically superior, judgment would be- entered up for defendant. "

Kirton and Curtis v F. Rowley. — Judgment summons for £3 4s 4d. A postcard was putin by which defendant pleaded his inability to pay. - A. R. Curtis deposed that defendant was working at John Anderson's warehouse, Wanganui, at his trade as a, Venetian blind maker, and was quite able to pay the claim. By consent an order was made for the money to be paid in two months. In default three days imprisonment. The qourt then -adjourned.
