Both Houses of Parliament last Bight passed unanimous votes of thanks to the British forces engaged in the Egyptian campaign for their services. In the House of Lords the pnncipal speeches were made by the Marquis of Salisbury, the Duke of Cambridge Earl Hartingdon, and Lord Carrington, and in the House of Commons by Sir Michael Uicks.Beach, Chancellor of the Exchequer, all of whom lauded the gallantry of the New South Wales contingent, and asserted that the loyalty shown fey the British colonies was adding new strength to the Empire. The departure of Lord Carington, the new Governor of New South Wales has been definitely fixed for December 30th. The Royal Commission appointed to consider the present trade depression includes Lord Dunraven and Messrs P. H. Muntz, S. Storey, and A. O'Connor, -M.j?'B. A number of prominent Liberals, including Hon. G. J. Goschen and Hon. G. J.
