Feilding Borough Council
* . .+ An ordinary meeting of the Council was held in the Council Cbsunbers. on Thursday evening last. Present; — Councillors Goodbehere, Bishop, Bartholomew, Fowles, Thompson, Worsfold and Nicholas. The newly elected Cr, Mr Eade, made and signed the usual declaration and took his seat at the table. la the absence of the Mayor, Cr Goodbehere presided. The minutes of the last ordinary meeting were read and confirmed. The following correspondence was read: — L. Paschke asking to have his name exchanged in rate book to C. Wallace for section 665 ; R. Parr, stating' that in ignorance he had shingled an addition to his workshop, and asking for permission to let the roof remain as done ; Mr E. Goodbehere, referring to bis former application re the damage done to his property in Kimbolton road by the formation, and also to a resolution passed on the matter on the 28th of May,, and giving notice that unless something be done within a week he would take steps to recover compensation as empowered by the Act; report' of the library Committee, suggesting that if the library is to be carried on it would be necessary to have a new supply of books, and that the Council should advance a sum. of money for the purpose; Mr Macarthur M.H.8., sending copy of the Government proposal for amalgamation of the Municipal Corporations Acts, and suggesting that a special meeting of the Council be held for considering the matter. A conversation took place on the matter referred to in Mr Parr's letter, the general opinion being that the Council had no option but to carry out the bye-lair, and a resolution to that effect wdis carried. Mr Paschke's application for transfer of names was held over. The matter of Mr E. Goodbehere'a letter was then discussed. Mr Goodbehere waited upon the Council and explained his reason for making the application, which was to the effect that the late contractors for the road had refused to do anything in tho matter. The former resolution on the matter was referred to, and it was understood the Public Works Committee would have the same carried out. Resolved, That the Council make a grant of £10 to the Library fuud for the purchase of new books. The Town Clerk was authorised to draw a cheque of £5 for petty cash purposes. Mr Reading waited upon the Council on behalf of Messrs Hubner and Rink with, reference to the formation of the road near their properties. He was instructed to inform the above ratepayers that the Council were positively prohibited from drawing upon the bank for any new works at present, but would give the matter attention when they were in funds. The Government proposals re the Municipal Corporations Act referred to in Mr Macarthur's letter were then discussed. The various new clauses which could have any application to the Borough of Feilding were considered seriatim, and approved subject to one or two suggestions. The Council then adjourned.
