Telegrams to-day show that the peace party iv Russia are urging that the difficulty with England regarding the Afghan frontier queston should be sottled by amicable negotiation. This is indeed a consummation devoutly to be wished, but we fear that the rival nations have now assumed such an attitude to each other that the terms of peace would be found difficult to lay down to satisfy the exalted notions of honor held by Jingos of both nations.
The suppression of the BosphoreEgyptienne, to which Mr Gladstone was a party, if not the chief instigator, has led to unpleasant complications between France and Egypt ; so much so that the French Minister and Consul, with their small army of officials, have left Cairo, and are at present waiting the course of events at Alexandria. France has got rid of her difficulty with China, and appears desirous of picking a quarrel nearer home, in which she has been ably assisted by the English Premier.
