The rebellion in North- West Canada still continues, and the Indians hare succeeded in capturing Fort Pitt. It is rumoured that the French Squadron is preparing to proceed to. Alexandria. In connection with the capture ot Fort Pitt by the Indians, it is feared tbat 60 of the garrison have been massacred including the Hon. Charles Dickens. Captain Wilson has been appointed submarine mining engineer for Victoria in place of Captain Rhodes, who was originally selected, but whose services tbe English Government decided to retain. He will sail for Melbourne by the P. and O. Eome. Lord General Wolselej is now returning to London. News from the Cape states that 7000 Beers threaten to rescue Mr Van Ntekirk, who has been placed under arrest by the British in Beehunaland. The Bishop of Salford, who is about te visit the colonies, is at present at Koine for the purpose of arranging missions te the Maoris..
