The Manchester Street Bridge

ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. The adjourned meeting took place last evening at 8.15. Present — The Mayor and Crs Gichard, Carthew, Fowles, Nicholas, Worsfold, and Thompson. A letter was read from Mr Hammond, stating his willingness to complete his contract on the Council guaranteeing the payment of his men's wages, and giving him an extension of 14 days' time. Cr Goodbehere moved, and Cr Fowles seconded, That the notice to Mr Hammond determining his contract for the erection of Manchester street bridge be withdrawn, and that his proposal for the completion of the bridge on the terms stated in his letter be accepted. — Carried.
