The Small Farm Association.

A meeting of the members was held at Mr Bray's office last evening for the purpose of receiving a report iron! the exploring party, who returned from their tour of exploration the previous evening. . ■. Mr Gosling, the chairman of the committee, presided.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.

Mr Mountfort then gave an informal report of the proceedings of the party.^ pointing out from the map the position of the block they had selected to recommend to the Association. The block, which comprises about 10,000 acres, ia about 20 miles from Feilding, beingeastward of the Oroua River, and a short distance a?«ove the Kiwitea Block.

Mr Mountfort gave a description of the block selected, the timber, the soil, and the general contour, of the land, and what he said was corroborated by each member of the exploring parly.'

Numerous questions were asked hj the members, to -which satisfactory answers wore given. . :

After some discussion Mr Hammond moved, and Mr J. 0. Thompson seconded, That the block of land described by Mr Mountfort be applied for at once. — Carried unanimously/:

Resolved, That in making application, the name of Mr Mountfort be mentioned as the proposed surveyor.

Mr Heading proposed, and Mr J. 0. Thompson seconded, That the best thanks of the Association be presented to the exploringparty f or the expeditious and satisfactory manner in which they had discharged their duties, with special reference to Mr 0. A. Mountfort for conducting the party, ; and- for waiving his professional charges.^Carried unanimously.

Mr Mountfort, in responding, said he wished to express his thanks to theother members of the party for their valuable assistance, and the cheerful manner in which they had gone through their work. ' . '.'.-.'-

Resolved, That a post card be sent to each member who has not paid his subscription, stating that unless these be paid within a week their names will be struck off and replaced brothers.

It was reported by the secretary that 97 persons had signed their names to become members.

Eesolved, That the members of the exploring party be paid their remuneration as far as the funds already in hand will allow.

There being no other business, the meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
