THE RANGER.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR.

Sir, — It is within my knowledge that the Feilding- Ranger uses a great discretion in impounding stray cattle, and is especially severe on some people in this respect. Some cattle can stray with impunif.y, but if mine or thoae'of any one else who has incurred the Ranger's displeasure should even look over a fence, they are at once seized. The Ranger's attention has frequentlybeen called to stray cattle, but he takes no notice and does just what he pleases. It; is quite time that this was altered, and that he should treat everyone alike. — I am, &c, '.
