Halcombe Notes

On Thursday last Mrs Childs of the Halcombe Hotel, died after a painful illness extending over a period of six weeks. The deceased lady was much respected, and her loss will be greatly felt, not only by her family, but by her many friends in the district. ■ Mr Larson, who is well known from his connection with the refreshment xooms at the railway stafion, has purchased the hotel, and will no doubt prove a most' excellent landlord. The' business of the refreshment roomsat the railway station has been transferred to Mr Pybus. Among others our worthy fellow townsman Mr J. A. Tompkins has been confined to his room with an attack of illness which at first had a somewhat serious aspect, but under skilful treatment he is now in a fair towards complete recovery.
