Lord Wolseley Las telegraphed to the Horse Guards that the enemy have abandoned Berti, and the place is now occupied by Mnjor- General Earle. who reports that the Nile is most difficult to navigate, but that his column are gradually overcoming the obstacles. New York, Feb. 3. ©'Donovan Kossa was shot at and wounded in the streets of this city today by an English woman. The latter was at once arrested and detained in custody. Received February 5, 11 a.m. Nfw York, February 3. The assailant of O'Donovan Itossa is a hospital nurse named Dubley. It is supposed her act was prompted by indignation at the recent action of the dynamiters in London. Her sanity is doubted in somo quarters. Rossa's wound is not a fatal one. Constantinople, February 3. The Forte has sent a strong protest to Rome against the recent annexations by Italy en the Bed Sea coast. London, February 4. A man has been arrested who is believed to bo implicated with Gilbert, now in custody in connection with the dynamite outrage at the Tower.
