Feilding State School
The annual picnic to the scholars attending this school took place on the Oval on Tuesday afternoon. There was, of course, a full attendance. Various games and amusements were engaged in, and all heartily enjoyed themselves. A sumptuous tea, the comestibles of which were supplied from the establishment of Mr Pollock, was partaken of, and full justice was done to the good things by the youngsters, who afterwards returned to their games whilst the teachers, committee, anh a few visitors partook of tea. The proceedings terminated about 6.30 by cheers being given by the scholars for their master (Mr Dowling), the teachers, the' committee, and also for the public who had subscribed to the fund ior providing the treat and the prizes. Toe annual distribution of prizes to those pupils who had successfully passed their respective examinations took place in the evening in the Public Hall, which was crowded by the scholars and their parents, friends, and other visitors. The Town Band performed some selections both outside the hall doors previous to the meeting, and also on the stage during the evening. The prizes were distributed by Mrs Nicholas, wife of the Chairman of the Committee, the Chairman himself, Mr Dowling, tiie master, and Mr Jenkins, second master, rendering what assistance was necessary. Previously to the giving of the prizes the Chairman made a few appropriate remarks, and said there were a large number of prizes to be given, and it was a source of great congratulation to them all that 67 per cent, of the scholars- had successfully passed their examinations.
