Robert Reid was committed for stabbing a fellow seaman on board the Lady Jocelyn. Two boatsheds at Parnell were burnt this morning, one, the property of the St. George's Rowing Club, contained boats to the value of £120, and was insured for £60 in the South British. Wellington. This Day. The election of three members for seats on the Government Insurance Association Board closed at 10 o'clock yesterday morning. Major Campbell, the returning officer, declares that the result will not be known for some two or three days. The man Sprat, who cut his throat yesterday, is in a sritical condition. Dcnedin, This Day. The Nenthorne murder case commenced to-day and is likely to last two days. Chbistchubch, This Day. At the Supreme Court to-day Albert Payne, for perjury, was sentenced to twelve months' hard labour. He had falsely sworn in the Resident Magistrate's Court that a sergeant and constable of the Police Force were drunk on duty. The humble bees brought from England per Tongariro were unpacked at the Acclimatisation Gardens today. A considerable proportion are alive, two flying away when liberated. This is the first time the attempt to introduce humble bees has succeeded.
