An inquiry was held to-day into the circumstances connected with the death of William Lovelace, who was injured on board the Hawera on Friday last, (he jury returned a verdict of manslaughter against the chief officer, William W:iiler. Mr Waller was afterwards committed for trial. Hail was allowed, in two sureties of L2OO each and himself in LIOO. In Chambers to-morrow the defendant in the Case of Sir Julius Yogel v. Harris will make application for further particulars as to claims of plaintiff in the libel case. At a meetiug of the directors of the Gear Meat i ompany it was decided to declare a dividend of 10 per cent, at the next annual meeting. The guarantee of expenses in obtaining the West Coast railway concessions and disposing of the name to a syndicate or company in England is being largely and influentially signed. The amount for which each guarantor is responsible is limited to £25.
