Kiwitea Sports
In another column we publish the programme of the above sports which ■will be held in Mr George Death's paddock at Cheltenham on Wednesday the 24th inst. The prizes for the steeplechase events are very liberal, and ought to insure the attendance of a good field, and afford good sport. The first is for horses owned by resi- ; dents of the Kiwitea, Waituna, and Harbor Board Blocks, and the second is open to all comers. No horses will be allowed to start for these races that have won public money, with the exception of hack races. The athletic events include maiden race, 150 yards ; boys race, 250 yards, for boys under 15 years of age ; running high jump, and a walking match of a mile; sack race ; hurdle race, 250 yards ; 440 yards race; handicaps at post; Kiwitea handicap, 100 yards, £2, and several other races. The committee deserve every credit for the excellent kill of fair they offer to the public, and we hope that the Feilding people will attend in force to assist.
