Industrial Exhibition
[pee united pbeps association.! Wellington, This Day. A deputation consisting of Messrs , Fisher, Newman, Jolmston, and Beetham, M.H.K.'s^and T.I. Macdonald, Chairman of Chamber of Commerce, waited on the Colonial Treasurer at noon to-day respecting the Government proposals re industrial exhibition. Sir Julius Yogel said it was the intention to hold an exhibition about AHgust Ist, and make it a thorough colon al one. He did "net think £1000 would cover the cost but an extra amount should not be large over that amount. He courted the cooperation of manufacturers, which would give a healty tone to the affair. The Government intend to impose a small charge for space and admission to exhibition. No imported articles would be allowed to compete except under certain conditions. Persons who were awarded gold medals would be entitled to nominate either a son/ daughter, niece,' or nephew for a scholarship from secondary school to highest colonial scholarship for eight years, and Government hoped this would be an incentive to exhibitors.
