A small trading schooner, the Ocean Queen, has gone ashore at Worser's Bay, her anchors having parted. She is full of water, and not insured ; valued at £50. She is owned by Messrs Eckford and Outram. Auckland, This Day. Among the through passengers by the Zealandia, for Sydney, were J. M. Thompson, the Australian bookmaker, his brother, and A. M. Platt and E. Erkstromer, two members of the American ring, who after witnessing the Melbourne Cup intend to return and pay the Hot Lakos a visit. During a gale of wind the Tokopuru monkey derrick, 80ft long, was blown down and fell on a man named Bernard Quin, breaking his leg and injuring him internally. He is not expected to lire. A Norwegian jailor has been sentenced to a month's imprisonment for attempting "to kiss a young woman against her will. At a meeting of the members of the New Zealand Rifle Association it was unanimously decided tbat at each meeting of the Association the next place of meeting be decided by lot, and that the Government be requested to place the Hinemoa and Stella at the disposal of volunteers free of charge for their conveyance to tho place of meeting. Thames, This Day. The Thames Harbour Board have determined to ask the Government to pass a measure conveying to them a suitable endownment, and also to apply for rating powers over the district benefited by permanent harbour works. A bill embodying this desideratum shall be drafted immediately, and forwarded to the member for Thames. Napieb, This Day. On Saturday a heavy gale was blowing all day, and one large tent of Chiarini's circus was ripped up, and the dressing tent almost destroyed. The estimated damage is £100.
