Feilding School Committee

An ordinary meeting of the committee was held in the school-house hist evening Present— Messrs Nicholas (chairman)* Watts (secretary), Bray, Butberford, and Worsfold. The minutes of the previous ordinary meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read from, the Education Board stating that the. appointment of Miss Lightboun as assistant teacher had been confirmed; from Mr Fry* consenting to be nominated as a member of the Board to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr Snelsofa ; and from the master recraestfng an attention in the school hours for the infant department. The master's usual monthly report was | read, showing the total number onjthe roll to be 270, and the total average attetftffcanee 236. Resolved, That the master's request re alteration in school hours lor infants be acceded to. • • On the motion ©i Mr Sutheriord, seconded by Mr Bray, Mr Fry was nominated to fill the vacancy ,m the Education Board, and the secretary was instructed to forward the' nomination to the Board. .- ; Resolved, That owing to" the falling off in the attendance this committee will enforce tire compulsary clauses of the Education Act, and the secretary is instrncted to get the necessary forms printed for giving notice to the parents. The examination schedules were laid before the committee, also the Inspectors' remarks on the same, which was read. Tho committee then adjourned.
