WEATHER REPORT.
Meteorological Report for the week ended Friday, October 3, 1884. The following table shows the readings of the barometer and rain guage at 9.30 a.m. on the dates mentioned, and the maximum and minimum temperature during the preceding 24 hours : —
Mem. — The temperature of the last month of September was unusually high. The maximum heat in the shade was 70 tleg. (or upwards) on the 17th, 24th, 25th and 26th, reaching as high as 78 on the 26th. The mean temperature for the month was 57'20deg., and no frost was registered. The mean temperature for September, 1883, was 49 M2deg. only, and for the same month in 1882 5223deg , the mercury reaching freezing point on eight nights in the former year, and two nights in the latter The rainfall for the past month was 760 inches as against 2"55 in September, 1883, and 3 43 in the same month of 1882, beinjp-the greatest fall since the month of February, 1883, in which month 9.35 inches fell. The late disastrous flood in Feilding was caused by a heavy rainfall of 278 inches, which was registered on Wednesday morning, the 3rd ult. Saml. Goodbeheek. Feilding, 3rd October, 1884.
