Mr J. G. Wilson gave' notice to move, That in the opinion of this House it is advisable that all assistance towards ! higher education should cease, and that j notice be given to the different institutions which derive any part of tLteir ' income from the reservos set aparT for higher education that next year one-tenth, of that revenue will be allocated to primary education ; the second year a further onetenth, and so on till the whole is allocated ' to that purpose. ; SCHOOL COMMITTEE:' Mr Steward moved the second reading of the School Committees Election Bill. The motion for the second reading was carried. -.:■■:■ .'•■.' | GAMING AND LOTTERIES. Mr Fiizherbert moved the second reading of the Gaming and Lotteries Act' 1881 Amendment Bill. The bill was read a second time.
Thia Day. The Workmen's Wages Bill was con* sidered in Committee. Clause 13, whicli provided for those supplying contractors with material having the same redress as workmen, was struck out. The Bill was agreed to without further amendment.
The Sharebrokers Act 1871, a;id Chatham Islands Animal Bill, were con* sidered in Committee and agreed to.
