The Volunteer Ball

The fifth annirersary ball of the Manchester Bifle Volunteers, held last ereningm the Town Hall was a most brilliant success. A large number of tie corps were present and the ball was also numerously patronised by civilians, including altogether about fifty couples. The hall was beautifully decornted with flags, terns, &c, which together with the many charming dresses of the ladies presented a rery pretty scene. Mr King's band from W:-nganui supplied the music in their usual excellent style, and Messrs Summers and Mayhew were the caterers for the supper, which was exceptionally good. Dancing was kept up until about 4 a.m.
