Wellington, Sept. 24. A deputation from temperancce ladies waited on the Premier to-day in reference to Mr Steward's Licensing Act Amendment Bill. They strenuously opposed the proposed bill. Mr Stout said he sympathised with them, and that tho bill would no doubt be considerably modified, in committee. Auckland, This Day. A representative of the Mogiel Woollen Company is here with the view of ascertaining the possibility of obtaining a regular supply of silk cocoons from Auckland, to be used in the company's manufactures. It is possible that an agency for tbe purchase of reeled silk will be established here. Wanganui, This Day. Mr Joseph Paul, the wellknown draper, was sued for a breach of the Stamp Aot to-day. The evidence showed he had given a statement of monthly accounts and credited payments made. Mr Ward, R.M., did not consider hat a receipt, and dismissed the information.
