North Island Trunk Line
[PEB UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Sept. 16. The North Island Trunk Railway Route Committee held its seepnd-rmeet-ing to-day, the Hon. W. G^Ricluudson, Minister of Public Works, being chairman, when the following witnesses were examined:— -Mr J. W. A. Marchant, Chief Surveyor, and Goipmisi'ioner of Crown Lands, Wellington-;-Mr-R. J* Gill, Under-Secretary of theNati^Land - Purchase Department; Mr J. McKerrow, Surveyor-General a-^-'Secrettirf of Crown lands ; and Mr J. Blaokettpbhief Engineer for the North Island. It is understood to be the intention .of the committee to sit daily, and to'..'^)c the House to allow it to sit while the o |touse is sitting. The North Island Railway Committee met this morning, and examined lifr John Sheeban, Mr Rochfort, survey&r) and Mr Wm. Fraser, who had passed through the country which the lines traverse.
