'No: what do you mean V I said rather sharply*- \ Well, sir,, it's juat this ; "• there ain't one on 'em about ihe p ace.' *(»h, nonsense/ I said. 'Why they've. all been in bed and asleep these two hours.' /Excuse me, sir, but if you'll follow me I'll soon convii ce you^that yqu haven't a .servant in your house.' Seeing that the man was serious, I ' followed him to a certain dancing saloon not very far away.
