Caibo, Sept. 11.
Intelligence has been ' received of a battle recently fought at_ Ambuki,_near Dongola, between the Egyptian troops under Nudir Pasha and a large body of rebels, led by two of the Mahdi's chief ameers. The engagement lasted some time, and the resulted in the defeat of the rebels, who were utterly routed, .and suffered a severe loss in killed and wounded.. - ; . • .
The Highland Brigade, now stationed in this city, have received order* to proceed to various points on the Nile to to reinforce the garrisons. General Lord Wolseleyi who is remaining here for the present,, is directing the movements of the troops.
