Manchester Road Board

An ordinary meeting of tbe Board was held at its ofiice, Manchester street, on Saturday afternoon last. Present — . Messrs Rulev, Lethbridge, Linton, Jotes, and Grammar; In the absence of tbe cbairmah,~JHr Macarthur, the chair was taken by Mr Bailey. Tbe minutes of tbe previous ordinary meeting were read and confirmed. ' The foUowing correspondence was read; — Manawatu Road Board, re road from Oroua River to Palmerston Gorge road t General Survey Ofiice. re tbe survey of : the road through the Native Reserve on the Rangitikei River; Manawatu Road Board, re proposed meeting of delegates to consider grants to the Wanganni Hespi.al ; petition from 28 ratepayers of west end of Stanway road, praying ther Board's consideration of forming the said road. Mr Leth bridge reported tbe decision of tbe delegates on' tbe hospital question, which was as follows : — That the accounts? from the Wanganui Hospital to the Oroua County Council be sent to the Manchester Road Board, and tbat the Manawatu, Kiwitea, Halcombe, and 1 Manchester Road Boards pay an equal proportion of the monthly expenses, each Board to bear its individual expenses for persons sent by their districts ; al«o, tbat the Clerk of the Manchester Road Board write to the officers of the Wanganui Hospital, giving; them the names of persons au borised to send patients. The following resolutions were passed : That this Board recommend to the Surveyor-General that the road nearest through tbe Native Reserve be gazetted as tbe only practical one. Tbat Mr Bray go and see if anything can be done for the settlers on Stanwaj road. That thereed sunning through Mr Jones' property be diverted,, Mr Jones *> bear all the expenses of the diversion Tbat the Engineer be instructed to select tbe best places for crossing the railway line on the Feilding- Bunny tborperoad. That Mr Bailer be appointed treasurer to the Board. Tbat tbe Clerk apply to the Manawatu and Kiwitea* Boad Boards, asking tbem to pay their share of G. Clark's and H. Slew art's accounts. That the rate of fd in the £on the rateable value of aU property within tbe Manchester Road Board District tor tbe year ending 31st March,' 1886. be now made, to become payable on and after the 6th day of September, 1884, in one sum. Accounts amounting to £722 9d were passed for payment, and the Board then adjourned.
