Six members *f the Government have been svrorn in with portfolios as follows : — Yogel, Colonial Treasurer, PostmasterGeneral, and Commissioner of Stamps ; Stout, Premier, and Attorney-General ; Ballance, Native Minister ; Tole. Justice; Richardson, Public Works; Heynolds, without portfolio. In the House this afternoon Mr Stout announced the appointment of six of the Ministry and hoped within a few days to have the other two positions filled up by North Islands representatives, and prob- I ably one of them from the Auckland district. He intended to ask the House to appoint a special Minister to take charge of mining business. He hoped there would be no further delay, but that the House would proceed at once to business. They intended lo ask the House to appoint a Select Committee to consider the .North Island main trunk ruilway route, and on such report being received would use their best endeavours to have the work pushed along as speedily as possible. He announced that the Financial Statement wonld be made within a fortnight.. The H oiiße then proceeded with the Order Paper, a lartfc number of questions being dealt with, after which the House adjourned. This Day. The Hon. P. A. Buckley has accepted the portfolio of Colonial Secretary, and will be bworn in this morning.
