Ancient Order of Foresters
Mr T. W. K. Foster has kindly forwarded us the following report for publication, which will doubtless be read with interest by members of our local Court and by Foresters generally throughout the district : — The Ancient Order of Foresters comprised on the 31st December. 1883, 293 districts, 4.778 Courts, 609,2)9 benefit and 13,593 honorary members, being an increase on the year of 5 districts, 121 Courts, 25.420 benefit and 409 honorary members. The aggregate worth of the Court funds is £3.022.997. and of district funds, £360,733. Daring the year there were 57.916 new members admitted, or 4,185 more than in the year 1882. "4|p number of members' deaths in the year was 6,247. and of member"*' w res an 1 widows, 4.224. The juvenile societies at the end of 1883 comprised 53.613 members, with 1*61.675 of funds. There were 12.256 persons who joined these societies in the year, and in the same period 3,800 were transferred to various Courts as members of the Order. During the year 1,315 clearance* were accepted by Courts,' and in the same period 423 licenses were granted to travelling members.
