The Concert
♦ We need scarcely remind our readers that the concert in aid of the Wells family will take place in the Public • Hall to-morrow evening. The committee have arranged an elaborate and excellent programme, in which some of the best amateurs of thedigrict will take part. Among the old favorites of Feilding audiences Mr A. C. Burcharn, of Sanson, "will make two appearances, and several other " sing, ists" known only by repute, and who • have not yet performed on our local stage, will also appear. Some exceptioually good music, prepared specially by the band, will be rendered, and a professional pianist has kindly consented to accompany the vocal pieces. A special novelty will be exhibited in ' the shape of. an orchestrionette, pfte of these lately invented and beautiful instruments having been kindly lent for the occasion by Messrs H. Collier and Co., of Wanganui. This instrument, the first ot the kind ever heard or seen in Feilding, will be operated upon with some lively airs during the evening, and will no doubt form an object of considerable attraction. It was the intention to have published a programme in to-day's issue, but this was found impracticable, as several items could not be arranged till the rehearsal, which takes place this evening. There is no need to explain the object for which the entertainment is being given, and the labours of its promoters should receive the best possible sign of appreciation by the public* viz., a crowded house.
