Miss Carry Nelson
As Miss Carry Nelson will visit Feildinfc at an <*arly date, for the in formation of our readers we make the following extracts from the Melbourne Argus, which says of the above lady, that on her first appearance at the Bijou Theatre more than ordinary eclat was attached to the re-introduction to the Australian stage of the favourite actress, Miss Carry Nelson. Tiie hearty reception which greeted her appearance upon the stage must have convinced her, if she ever doubted it, that the interval which had taken place since her last appearance on the Melbourne boards she was not by any means forgotten. Her vioce has gained in quality and volume, and she sings her music with artistic culture and ease which were to have been expected from a daughter of Sydney Nelson. Her acting too has improved, and now, without having lost any ofthe arch piquancy which rendered her such a favourite with the public, she has acquired a reposeful and yet picturesque style, graceful, natural, and there fore highly effective. Miss Nelson is an accomplished pianist as well as vocalist, as was evinced by the manner in. which she played her own accompanments. Air P. Nelson made a capital hit as the gruff but ever-forgiving old Sergeant. This actor also gave pathetic and spirit-stirring recitations, in a manner that evinced his mastery of elocution and dramatic art. Wherever this company have played they have been pronounced more complete than any that have appeared in the provinces. We know them to be artist* of raro merit* The play-going portion of the public should not miss the opportunity of enjoying excellent music and a gocd kearty langh.
