The body of a man named Daniel Liddell, engineer, was picked up in the harbor yesterday. At the inquest an open verdict was returned. The evidence given was that deceased was under the influence of liquor on Saturday, but there was nothing t show, how he got into the water. In the case of the bankruptcy of W. Waring Taylor, the Judge of the Supreme Court made an order yesterday thafc the bankrupt receive £3 10s per week from the estate. Blenheim, This Day. Mr J. W. Busby, of Upton Downs, Awatere, "was prosecuted to-day for neglecting to clean 21.590 infected sheep, and fined the minimum penalty of 3d per sheep, making a total of £269 17s 6d. Auckland, This Day. John Pitt; gumdigger, was found drowned off Helensville wharf this afternoon. He was drunk " yesterday, and j fell off the Warkworth last night but ! was fished out again. He must have eSlipped off the deck again last night. GISBORNE, This Day. Thb Working Men's Political Association have unanimously .chosen Mr Rees as their candidate. There were fitty. to sixty persons present. A resolution was passed tendering their heartfelt sympathy .in his recent .notion against Mr Locke.
