Feilding Borough Council

An ordinary meeting of the Council was held on Thursday evening. Present — Crs Richardson, Worsfold, Rutherford, Thompson, and Fowles. In the absence of the Mayor Cr Thompson was voted to the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The following report of the Cemetery Committee was read :— "The Committee beg to report thai they hare authorised the Mayor to apply to the other local bodies in this district tor grants in aid of the cemetery. With a view of having the cemetery laid off in allotments as required hy the Act, the Committee recommend that tenders be at once called for clearing the ground of scrub, &c, the work to be done under the supervision of the Engineer. J. C. Thompson-, Chairman. July l-7th, 1884." A petition of ratepayers in Suburban road, -leading from Kimbolton road to Pharaayn street, praying the Conncil to metal the said road, was read. The report of the Inspector of Nuisance* W3s read. ; Cr Rutherford moved and Cr Fowles seconded. That the petition of ratepayers in Suburban road and Pharazyn street ba received. — Carried. A conversation took place re the report from the Cemetery Committee, andityras resolved, on the motion of Cr Fowles, seconded by Cr Worsfold, That the report of the Cemetery Committee be adopted. Cr Worsfold again brought forward the matter of the relief of the unfortunate Wells family. He was aware that Wells . was at the hospital at the rxpense of the ' 'ouncil, but it was absolutely necessary to do something for the assistance*^ tbe family, and if nothing else could Ikrdone he thought the Government should be applied to. : " A conversation followed, after which it was resolved, on the motion of Cr Richardson, seconded by Cr Worsfold, That the sum of 10s per week be granted to the Wells family until the next meeting of the Council. Resolved, That the next meeting be held on Thursday, 31st instant. The Council then adjourned.
