(PEB UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, This Day. The fire insurance rates being considered excessive, a deputation waited on the Underwriter's Association, and submitting certain proposals for a reduction in the rates. The Chairman of the Association subsequently wrote, offering 10 per cent, disconnt in block rates. This being exclusive, and regarded as unsatisfactory, a meeting of 20 of the principal insurers was held, and it was resolved to form a fire insurance protection society declared object as will ensure to the insuiers a substantial reduction on fire rates now charged.
