The Republican party is strongly objecting to the nomination of Ex-Secre-tyry Blame as a candidate for the Presidency, and refuse to agree with the decision of the Chicago Convention. Received June 10, 1.5 p.m. London, June 9. The Pall Mall Gazette to-day publishes a paragraph asserting that England and France have arrived at an agreement re* garding Egypt that England will lend that country eight millions, and that the Brit* ish Government consents to the principle control of Egyptian finances, and that a British force will remain in Egypt for at least three years and a half, and that Turkey will occupy the Eel Sea Ports and send a force of fifteen thousand men to pacify Soudan.
New Yoke. June 8. The Chicago Convention hare decided to nominate James G. Blaine.ei. Secretary of State, as Democratic candidate for the Presidency of the United States. £ London, June 7. At the Manchester Whitsuntide Meet* ing the Manchester Cup, of 2,000 sots, was won by Mr J. Hammond's Florence, Robertson being second, and Come Boy third. It is proposed to organise a committee of colonists to try and bring about a reduction in the warehousing and other charges on frozen meat. At to-day's wool auction 9,400 bates were offered and there was a good competition. Eren erossbreds are' now ruling about a penny higher than at the close of last sales. Australian wheat is unchanged. Of nine cargoes which have arrived, several have been dispatched to the Continent. One July forward shipment has been sold at 41s. Wool is very firm, especially crossbred. There have been 317,000 bales catalogued, and 28,500 withdrawn. The Pall Mall Gazette praises the financial prosperity of Victoria. The leaders of the Orange party in Ireland hare abandoned the idea of holding a meeting at Newry at the same time as the National meeting. Thousands of English Orangemen had proceeded to Ireland threatening to move amendments at the National meeting.
