(bkuteb's tclegkams.) Caibo, June 8. Intelligence has been received that Berber, an important town on the Nile, north of Khartoum, has fallen to the rebels after a brief struggle, and they are now in fall occupation. A portion of the Egyptian garrison surrendered their arms and went over to the assailants, and the remainder, who declined to yield, were killed to a man.
Received June 10, 1 a.m. ITaiso, June 8. In consequence of the present senons . aspect of affairs in Souakim. Admiral ' Lord John Hay, commanding the Mediterranean squadron, has proceeded thither. The intelligence of the fall of Berber is generally believed to be incredible and it is expected that contradictory news will .shortly be received. Recent reports brought in by the natives show that the news of the projected expedition for the relief of Khartoum has had a good effect upon the rebels, who are said to be retreating on Kardovan, fearing the arrival of the British troops.
