The visitors went in first, and the innings closed for a total of 195 runs. McDonnell, caught, 37 ; and Scott, caught. 71, were the highest scorers. The Home team then went to the wickets, and as play closed for 97 runs, towards which Akroyd was the highest contributor with 35. For the Australians, SSpafforth and Boyle bowled splendidly the former taking 4 wickets for 20 runs, and Boyle 4 wickets for 10 runs. Later. The cricket match, Australians v. Surrey, was resumed to-day at the Oval. The Englishmen being 98 runs behind their opponents in the first innings, had to follow on, and in their second innings succeeded in putting together 144 runs. Diver, 24; Maurice Reid, 28; and Bowden, 32, were the highest scorers. The Australian, requiring 47 runs to win obtained the same with the loss cf only two wickets, and won the match by eight wickets. Bannerman was bowled for 24. The weather was splendid throughout the day, aud there was again a large attendance great interest having been taken in the match.
