The Amount collected at the principal centres was:— Auckland, £23.528 2s 2d; Wellington, £16,292 12s ld; Lyttelton and '• Christchurch, £16,840 Os 8d ; Dunedin, £29,420 Is 6d. $For March last the total -was £115,799 Os 3d, and for April, 1883, it was £121,086 8s 3d. The beer duty for last month was £4960 10s lOd, the principal amounts being: —Auckland, £1088 13a 2d; Wellington, £385 12s 6c i Christchurch, £1056 10s lOd ; Dunedin, -£1 : i66 15s 9d. For March < last year it was £474 18s 4d ; and for April. 1883, £5062 7s Bd.
