John Roberts, jun., and Joseph Dennett concluded their 6000 up. spot barred, billiard match for £100 at the Westminister Aquarium on January 19- Roberts, who gave 80(1 points, won very easily by 1333 point* Ib tbe afternoon Roberts was iv wonderful for.m, aud after completing his unfinished break of the previous Saturday the game wa r called— Koberts, 4013; Bennett, 0707. The champion then in rapid succession added 33, 110, 102, 132, completing his 500 before the interval in the short time of 53 mins. ; Bennett, during* th <t time, having with 68, 23. and 40 advanced his score to 3,864. On resuming, .Roberts made up his break to 71 before resigning the cue. Up to the finish of the afternoon's play Roberts still increased his lead with 37, 66,41, 147, and an unfinished 83, to 5000 ; Bennett « total being: 421, with best breaks of 45, 56, 36 and 39Jn the evening before a crowded gallery, Roberts made up his broak to 114, aVi then, with 55,87, 104, 52 and 63, reached 5500 to Bennett's •4863, tbe best break of the latter l>eing3o. After a short interval lhe final. stagecommenced, Roberts, a?aia doing most of the scoring. His best breaks were 77 , 74, 54, 51, 67. an unfinished 28 winning him the match by 1333 points, Benn- tt's chief contribution being "a well-played 113 The 1000 points in the afternoon occupied 2 hours, and the evening 1000 2 hours 22± minutes. During (he match Bennett's best break was 113 and Robert's 222.
