ASHURST STOCK SALE.

Messrs Halcombe and Sherwill report that at their sale at Ashurst yesterday the attendance was very good, notwithstanding the'h'eary downfall of rain. The -reserves put on the stock we r e very high, hut the bidding in many instances approached very near. The following prices were realised :— 2^-yr steers. L 2 2s 6d : li-yr steers, Ll 15s to L 2 2s 6d ; 2_- yr sieers and heifers, mixed, Ll 18s; dry cows, 255. Sheep — Fat ewes, 8s ; lambs (indifferent) 3s 6d ; fat wethers, 9s 6d offered and declined. One draught -filly, Ll3 ss. We were disappointed in 50 head of cattle which the vendor failed to bring forward** Many enquiries were made W this lot by buyers, and some dissatisfaction was expressed by persons who bad come expressly to purchase from a distance.
