John Heid, in the employ of Mes rs Findly and Co, timber merchants, was loatiing railway trucks with timber from tbe brigautine Enterprise. Whilst he was in the act of turning over a piece of black pine about 14 feet in length in one of the trucks the timber must h ye been on thu balance, and by some means he -fell out of the truck, bringing the timber with him. It fei on his lace, completely smashing and fracturing his skull, lie was unmarried-, but was the sole support or hi* mother aird -sisxer. He was about fifty years of age. '■: "' - " : - d'- • ■'-
