[PEB UXITKD PBKP3 ASSOCIATION.! ArcKLAND, This Day. A meeting of delegates of the Friendly Society is to be held to night to urge the appeal of the Friendly Societies Act. An Anti-unoking Society has been formed here. At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce resolutions were passed, urging the Government to ask Parliament for authority to assist a company to introduce and carry on sericulture and other subtropical industries. An infant son of Mr W. B. Topp was drowned in an open drain near his residence at Ratapu. The jury censured the parents for lack of care. Wellington, This Day. Mr R. W. Kane, accountaut of the Bank of New Zealand at Wellington, has received the appointment of manager of the Invercargill branch. He left today to take charge. At a meeting of the Medical Association last night, a resolution was adopted J that the evidence in the case of manslaughter against Dr Parry did not justify the conviction, and that a petition be sent to Government for a communication of the sentence. About 30 gentlemen met last night at the Hon. Mr Reynolds's invitation to di-diss his proposal to form an Otago Constitutional Association.
