Borough Bye-Laws

On reference to Bye-law No. 2, of the Corporntion of the Borough of Fielding, we find that there are one -hundred and twenty five clauses,, each of which indicates an offence which may be committed against the body corporate. Ifc either speaks well for the law abiding character of the people, or ill for the cnpicity of the officers of the Borough, that since its establishment (here has never been a prosecution" under one of these clauses We do not know if 1 here is any duly ap. pointed person to see that the bye-laws are properly carried out. We may assume not, because of. our knowledge offences against them are committed day after < day, and no obstacle or check is offered to be put to them. From time to time we hare called attention to flagrant cases, and expected that some notice would have been taken, by the powers that be, and an effort made; to remedy the evil. Although, we havealways clearly stated the number of th'e^ clause 1 under which the offender or offenders should be puninhed, no results whatever have followed.
