The War in Soudan
(eeuteb's telegeams) Cairo, March 31. Telegrams to hand from Khartoum state that Gordon Pasha is adopting stringent, measures to suppress the disaffection- among the Egyption troops forming the garrison of that town, and has caused to be executed two Soudan pashas, for treachery during the disastrous sortie on the 16th instant. Information has reached Souikira that Osman Digneh, with a thousand followers, among whom are many influential sheikhs, is now encamped near Tamaneb, and preparing to fight the tribes in the neighborhood who are friendly towards the British. London, March 31. When Gordon Pasha made a sortie against the lebels surrounding Khartoum, his Egyptian forces numbered 2,(KK) men, who fled at the approach of sixty Arab horsemen, and they retreated into the city suffering great loss. It is estimated Unit fully two hundred were killed. The rebels captured two guns. The latest information from Cairo states that Osmun Digneh has returned to Tamnneb, the scene of the recent engagement with Major-General Graham's forces. ,
Received April 3, 0.55 a.m. Caibo, April 1. Three more British regiments have received orders to return to their stations from Soudan, and embarked at Souakim to-day. Telegrams from Souakim state that Admiral Hewitt will start on his journey to Abyssinia to morrow.
