Feilding State School
The usual monthly meeting of the committee was held in the school house last evening. Present — Messrs Sherwill (chairman), Watts (secretary and treasurer). Bray, Kulherford, Nicholas, and Foster. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The following correspondence was then read : — , Secretary Education. Board, approving of the appointment of Miss Diamond as , cadet in place of Miss Pope resigned; same, enclosing application from Miss Goodison to be transferred to another school, the Board suggesting that j her application be laid before the committee and forwarded by them to the Board ; same, stating that the Board had decided to adopt the report of the architect to enlarge the school building, and to proceed with the work at once; Messrs Sargeant, Bate, and Greenwood, askine to be nominated by the committee for the vacancies in the Board.
The master's report was read showing an average on the roll— Boys, 138; girls, 155; and the attendance— Boys, 97; girls, 114; nlso, an application for several articles for the use of the school, which the secretary was instructed to get supplied. Proposed by Mr- Foster, and seconded by Mr Bray, -That the pump at the master's residence be repaired, and that an application be made to the Board for a tank for the masters residence; also, a new pump for the school. — Carried.
Proposed by Mr Bray, and seconded by Mr Butherford, That Miss Goodison's resignation be accepted from date of letter, and that the Education Board be requested to call for applications to fill auch vacancy. — Carried.
Proposed by Mr Nicholas, and seconded bjr Mr Butherford, That tbe secretary write to the Board requesting to be supplied with five copies of the Education Act for the use of the committee. — Carried.
Besolved, That Messrs Bray and Nicholas bo the visiting committee for the next month. Accounts amounting to £1 5s were passed for payment. Proposed by .V r Nicholas, seconded by Mr Rutherford, That Mr Fry be voted for by tbis committee to fill one of the vacancies in the Education Board. — Carried. The committee then adjourned.
