♦ Cbuou .oub owk cohkespondext.) ...-_, Bulls, February It. The election of licensing commissioners resulted in an overwhelming victory foi the publicans. This should be a warning to the temperance party. If they wish tc succeed in any future election they nmsl nominate really first class men, and some who have a big fttake in the country. They must fight the battle also as the publicans did, by bringing up every voter that they possess. Had they done this, and voted straight, they would have put anothei man at the least on the bench. There are- many abuses which it would be well for the new commissioners to amend, but it is feared that it will be hopeless to ■expect anj improvement under the present • regime. At midday most of the youths of the . town adjourned to the river, and luxuriated in a swim. It was quite an animated scene for fully an hour, and the sport was fast and furious. Some of the new members will make it warm work for last year's prize takers at the forthcoming match, which, I understand, will be held on next Sunday week.
