An elderly man named Grahame Mayee was couiuiitted for trial at the Resident Magistrate's Court to-day on a charge of rape on a girl six years old. Auckland, Tins Day. Messrs Bryce, Kollcston, and Oliror arrived from Waikato last ni^ht. They express themselves hopeful of yet settliug matters satisfactorily at Rotorna. They leave for Wellington en Monday CHRisTCfiUBCtf, Tins Day. Last evening while Mr Ditjnin of the Bank of New Zealand at A*hburton was riding down the beach road he was run into by a man named Brovrdy, under the influence of liquor. While falling Mr Dignan was badly kicked in the head by his own horse. Dr Kos.t attended him, but the injuries were too severe to allow him to give evidence against Browdf when the case was called on.
