Feilding Brass Band
TO THE EDITOR OK THB STAB. Sib.—With reference to the controversy in the matter of the Feilding Brass Band and Mr J. Turner's "Christy Amateurs/ nllow me to state the plain facts of the ease, as it regards the former's engagements of the Town Hall. For my own satisfaction, I hare made enquiries, which hare resulted^^jnj^eertniuing the following facts :—The Band, on the 31st of December. 1883, engaged the Hall for the 22nd j>f Jawjarj. Easter Monday Night, and Qtieeb's Birthday Night, and on each occasion for an entertainment, and. not merely a dance, as Mr Turner affirms. Fin<iing the Anniversary Committee wished, to hold their celebration on Jan.'22nd, the Band forewent their claim, but surely Mr Turner does not expect them to do the same for him. He complains of what he calls the Band monopolizing the Hall. If engaging the Hail arid paying for it is to be called monopoly, I 'suppose tue Company would be very glad of its being monopolised every night in the year. And who would hare any right to complain? especially if th* proceeds were devoted to purely public purposes, and for the pleasure of the entire' population of the place.—-I am, Ac, \[ '-.'■' CITIZEK.
