It is understood tbat the mover .is not acting in concurrence with the leaders of the Opposition pa:*ty. lv connection with the proposed tax on property, it has transpired that under the Bill to be introduced Banks will have to pay the full amount of tax on the whole of their shares, charging a proportionate amount against each shareholder. . Foreign Banks will be called upon to pay in proportion to tbe entent of their operations in the colony.

The Intercolonial Cricket Match, i Victoria versus i\ ew Sou h Wales, com j menced here to-day. The home team went in first and all were out for 169 runs ; at the close of the day's play the | Victorians had lost two wickets for 23 runs.
