A Trip to Bulls
tnOU A COBBIBFONDBNf.) Hot baring been at Bolls for torn* considerable time, I made it a risit a day or two ago, and took a leisurely cruise round tbe place, so at to renew the friendship of a few old ae» qnaintances, &c. The town bat slightly improved since I was there last, sereral, good public buildings and private residences baring been pat up, and the piac* generally much altered in appearane* for the better. I need not name or describe these buildings as this bit* already been done in your columns 'bf your own correspondent. As to business;! should judge from what I saw, thatfthis on the whole is as good as in aiqr setUetaieafc of a like siae anywhere aboutv ' Bererat*# tradesmen are, I belief e, contemplating an extension of their business to other neighboring places. Mr \flairper has, I hear, opened a branch store at Campbell* town, and Mr Bjdder, I am informed, thinks of opening up at !Fefldliog. I should judge Bulls to be a healthy locality, from its position and V .W hat I saw of its inhabitants, most k o'r whom looked rery hearty. ; 1 especially' noticed this in sereral persons formerly residents in Feilding, plainly Shewing . that eren a change of air alone has sometinsesa rery beneficial effect. I w»» particulary pleased to see Mr Nicholas, the,' genial and popular postmaster/: 'looking so healthy and nappjr. /The air of th? town and the water of the river eridently agree wjtth him " muchly," and we botk regretted thai oni the day I was there th» weather was too wet and. cold for us to go together and indulge in bis and my own farorite pleasure of a swim. Tbe Salration Army was probably tbe principal topic ©f conversation, they baring commenced operations in good earnest on Sknday, and were continuing, their exercises of " knee drill," Ac, every night during the week. I should think .their appearance there would be uffiilune,. and I sineerly wish' they may do good. Speaking from an orthodox point, of riew I should not set Bails down on the Jist of the most.godly plaees<in thia w*rldi a* I was told ' on good authority tbfcft? only about ene-fiftb of • the peopWstttnded a, place of divine worship/ Tble^Salrn^ tionists are at least attracting attention to the subject of reiigiba^ and iarealready enlisted tnd- reWh*i * few Wl characters, and if they do ;nb ( .ns^*^they will be, wished godspeed by erery sensible' person, whether this is done at BnOs, or at Feilding, to which eflj they intw to> lay seige. I can only hope that if do so they may. be treated as well as they were eridently being by the Bulltownitta.
